Keys + Boyle – Wedding & Reception at an Oceanfront Home on Folly Beach

Lindsay Keys and Vince Boyle wanted a small intimate beach wedding. They wanted to be surrounded by close family and friends. And they wanted to include the love of their life, their beautiful boxer. They chose the perfect spot on Folly Beach, South Carolina, twin beachfront homes with a spacious courtyard between the two houses. Special events are permitted on the property! (1681 E. Ashley Ave.) The girls took over the front house to get ready and the guys took over the back beachfront home. Talk about a perfectly designed facility for a small DIY wedding.

The Atlantic Ocean provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. Local wedding officiant, Say I Do In Charleston created the perfect personal and meaningful service for the couple. A relaxed intimate ceremony where their sweet loving dog almost stole the show.

After the signing of the license and group photos, it was time to celebrate. The front house’s open floor plan was the perfect setting for the post ceremony sit down dinner. In addition, the home’s crow’s nest provided sunset views overlooking the Folly River and adjoining marshlands. And the courtyard served as the dance floor, lounge seating areas and late night snack bar serving popsicles and sliders.

Feeling relaxed and loved, Lindsay and Vince slipped away into the night under the glow of a sparkler sendoff. Another perfect element and ending to their special day.

Henson + Griffin – Wedding & Reception at The Links at Patriots Point

Ashley Henson and John Griffin live in Weymouth, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston and are all about family. They both come from large families and love to spend time with them. Some families are closer than others and I can honestly say these two families are close, they like each other and know how to have a good time. It was such a joy photographing Ashley & John’s wedding day surrounded by family and friends. They are getting married at The Links at Patriots Point.

As Ashley stated on their photography contract, “Regarding the wedding party, we are including all of our siblings, nieces and nephews. That totals 13 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, 3 flower girls and 4 ring bearers. Our families are extremely important to us!” Photographing very large wedding parties can be a challenge but not with this group. They spend so much time together as a large group, they are experienced in organizing and doing what it takes to “get the job done”. Did I mention how very nice and fun they were to work with. You can see it in the images from the day.

Ashley and her girls started the day with hair and makeup at their beach house rental on the Isle Of Palms. Paper Dolls did an outstanding job and completed their task on time. The guys got ready for the day at the Hilton Garden Inn, a new waterfront hotel in downtown Charleston.

The couple chose to have a First Look so that the majority of posed photos could be completed prior to the ceremony which allowed the couple to hang out with their guests during happy hour. Rick Dean Photography staff found an intimate tree shaded spot just steps away from the main event space of The Links at Patriots Point. We love seeing the joy on a groom’s face upon seeing his bride for the first time. It makes us smile each and every time! It never gets old. And it’s such an honor to be included in this very special, very intimate moment in a couple’s life.

After a quick check of hair and makeup, it was time for the ceremony. If there needed to be more proof of the closeness of their families, John and Ashley chose John’s father to be their wedding officiant. Walking Ashley down the aisle was both her birth father and her step dad, showing the importance both have been in her life. “We all get along!”

The creative team of florists at Branch Design Studio added shades of pastel pinks and greens to the white and silver canvas of both the ceremony site and reception space.

Keeping the day relaxed and on time was Ms. Lacy Davidson and her expert team of Relish Distinctive CateringChef John Roskowski created a menu to satisfy each and every guest. The couple chose Marble Slab to be onsite to create personalized ice cream sundaes for dessert!

To get the crowd moving after a filling dinner was DJ & Photobooth services provided by Stephen Darby of Epic Charleston. Capturing the action on video was Shawn Whittington of Lowcountry Wedding Films. In lieu of a Grand Exit, the couple decided they would rather stay till the very end allowing them to spend every minute celebrating with family and friends. Did I mention they love their family!!! This was the perfect day at Links at Patriots Point

Colonna + Wible – Wedding at Confederate Home & Reception at Marion’s in the French Quarter

Jennifer Colonna and Nathan Wible are both very active, successful professionals. Jennifer is a physical therapist and Nate is a pharmacist. Due to their super busy work schedules, they took to the internet to find a soulmate. They met online and “We hit it off right away and enjoyed spending a lot of time together over the months after meeting”. They both enjoy activities that takes them outdoors, running, snowboarding, yard work, traveling, time well spent together. They chose to celebrate their big day in the French Quarter.

Their love of travel took them to Mt. Tibidabo in Barcelona, Spain where, on top of the ferris wheel, Nate “popped the question”. Of course, Jennifer said yes. They both wanted a destination wedding and chose Charleston during a long weekend trip to the Lowcountry. They plan to travel as much as they can before starting a family. Next adventure will be their honeymoon in Thailand!

Jennifer started her wedding day with her mom and wedding party in the drawing room of The Confederate Home and College, the location of their ceremony. Nate and his groomsmen got ready at The Vendue Inn, a short walk from their reception site. Coordinating the day’s events and keeping everything on time and relaxed was Catherine Brady of The Pampered Palate. Flowers for the day were created by Anna Bella Florals.

After an intimate and fun ceremony under a perfect bright blue Charleston sky, guests took a short walk through historic downtown Charleston to the reception venue, Marion’s in the French Quarter, which was beautifully set with assistance from Charleston Uplighting and EventHaus Rentals.

Friends and family were greeted with delicious and artfully prepared passed apps created by The Pampered Palate, who later in the evening wowed the guests with a perfectly plated surf & turf dinner with lowcountry succotash. The meal was topped off with wedding cake by Normandy Farms Bakery. Mike Bills Entertainment got the guests moving on the dance floor until it was time for the newlyweds’ sparkler exit into the nightlife of Charleston.

Jenkins + Wilson – Wedding and Reception at Founders Hall

Danieal Jenkins and Donnie Wilson planned a wedding day full of fun and laughter, time well spent with family and friends, in a setting that would blend silver and gold elegance with bursts of color. Their dream came to life with the expertise of their Raleigh, North Carolina based wedding planner, Ms. Teena Aytch of Events De Jenee! Teena and her team turned the front lawn of Charles Towne Landing‘s Founder’s Hall into a colorful scene out of a fairytale. Pinks, purples, yellows and greens welcomed the guests to the outdoor ceremony site.

Prior to the ceremony, Danieal and Donnie shared a First Look in the courtyard of the private owner’s suite of Founders Hall. Donnie was speechless upon seeing his bride. They were all smiles and love. After a quick check of the makeup, it was time to walk down the aisle!

During the post ceremony family photos, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the large screened porch overlooking the reception hall. Charleston Uplighting and Tanis J Events‘ pipe & drape transformed the Great Hall into an elegant party space including a tented Table For Two for the newlyweds. Gourmet Bay Catering created a menu to satisfy any palate. The wedding cake and cupcake take-aways were provided by Sablee Patisserie & Chocolaterie. YUM!!! After several hours of non-stop dancing to the greatest hits of 70’s era Soul Train (SO FUN!!!), the couple slipped away into the night. Founders Hall was such a special venue.

Painter + Lancaster – Wedding at The French Huguenot Church & Reception at Hibernian Hall

Early in our first meeting with potential clients, Hollis Painter and Jackson Lancaster, we knew theirs would be a fun, relaxed, good time wedding. We had a blast discussing their wedding plans. They both had a great sense of humor. Shortly after booking with Rick Dean Photography, we received their completed contract and questionnaire. As we expected, their responses were not the usual. “Tell me about how you met: Arranged Marriage” “Tell me how you got engaged: Trading of goats and other livestock”. Hollis was quick to note that “Jack’s answers are obviously not true”.

Hollis and Jack took their vows at The French Huguenot Church, one of Charleston’s oldest churches on the peninsula. Hollis and her attendants prepared for the day, with the help of  Jonny Sherwood and Wedding Hair By Charlotte, at the Huguenot Heritage Hall, just steps away from the church. Jack and his guys got ready for the day at The Meeting Street Inn.

After their intimate ceremony, guests took a short walk through historic Charleston to the Hibernian Hall, which dates back to the 1840’s. Guests were greeted by a Sweet Treats table constructed by Justin Wham Weddings and Events. With Justin’s floral arrangements and rentals from Snyder Events, wedding planner extraordinaire, Sara Cavallon and the Sara Cavallon Celebrations team turned the second floor ballroom into an intimate space for family and friends to celebrate with the couple. Cru Catering provided the bar and over the top deluxe food stations. The wedding cake and assorted desserts were expertly created by Bakies. Hollis, Jack and their guests put on their boogie shoes and danced into the night with the Momentum Party Band. With a send off of neon glow sticks, the newlyweds were whisked away by Bike Taxi. This was a fantastic day at Hibernian Hall!
